Type Book – introductory typography project

Posted on Oct 5, 2013 in student work

Students were asked to conduct basic research on a typeface and its creator. The deliverable was a 12–20 page book that covered the history, aesthetic qualities, and compared or contrasted the typeface to other similar faces. This book served several learning goals: to explain and illustrate historic and stylistic vignettes of a typeface, to learn basic technical functions of page layout software, to create and apply a set of rules for visual page construction.
